Michael Mondavi Family Buy Carneros Creek Winery

The Michael Mondavi family has purchased the winery previously known as Carneros Creek Winery from Francis & Kathleen Mahoney. This will be the home for I'M, Oberon, and Hangtime wines. Mahoney will retain the Mahoney Vineyards and Fleur de California Brands, which will continue to be produced at the winery.

The winery was built in 1973 by Mahoney and Balfour Gibson and made Pinot Noir a benchmark for Carneros wines. The winery was expanded in 1999 and then in 2000 a visitors and administration building was added.

The Michael Mondavi Family will be working closely with Folio Fine Wine Partners, the marketing, sales, and distribution company that the family founded in 2004. "Francis has done a wonderful job creating a winemaker's winery", said Michael Mondavi, " so our objective is to produce great wines here and add our personal style while having fun in a business that we love".

"We are fortunate to have made wine at the winery last harvest", said Rob Mondavi., "We are continually delighted with Francis's focus on ensuring that it is a modern and state -of-the-art winery, where we will continue to create world class wines , " he continued.

"Our winery is located in the picturesque Los Carneros Appellation of Napa Valley", said Dina Mondavi. "We will continue the spirit of a small, family-owned and operated winery".

Further details will be announced at the close of escrow. The purchase price was not announced.
